Competition for a Cultural Center near Mies' pavillion in Barcelona, Spain

 

LIKE A ROLLING STONE

"Like a rolling stone" is a borderline building.
Between the city and the park.
Different function in different volumes.
Public space connected in a large entrance hall.
Staircases and suspended platforms joining the different levels of the building make the place become an in-out space.
The big glazing box envelopes the crossing of the three volumes trying to preserve the unity of the assemblage.
The site plan explodes in a dynamic/centrifugal gesture that opens the view towards Mies' pavillion.
